Halfway through explaining to requiodile how they’d done the arm prop for TWS I realised I was quoting info from the artbook that I hadn’t seen on Tumblr. So here you go!

"What the directors described was an arm almost beyond what Tony Stark could do now, the highest tech possible, so whoever had replaced Winter Soldier’s arm was beyond what even our main technological hero of the Marvel Universe could accomplish," Meinerding says. "That allowed us to go with the horizontal cut lines across the arm, something fairly traditional in the Marvel Universe, so it was kind of cool to be able to do it on-screen."

Shane Mahan, Physical Suit Effects Supervisor at Legacy Effects, describes the process of creating the Winter Soldier’s arm from a life-cast of actor Sebastian Stan: “First, we do an exact mold of the actor’s arm for the size and the dimension, and then we do a casting out of that. But we also took him to get a 3-D scan of his arm, so we had digital information as well as a hard, real-world casting to work from. We took the designs from Ryan Meinerding’s design team, and then one of our digital artists here — Won-il Song — created a digital sculpture.”

"I designed this to be a seamless forearm piece," Mahan continues. "And after the digital sculpture has been done, and the part has been grown and cleaned up, it matches up to a bicep piece. One of our artists, Chris Swift, is pictured testing it."

Legacy created two versions of the Winter Soldier’s arm. “We made one from foam rubber with tracking markers on it for extreme action,” Mahan says. “And then there were these arms made of urethane that were metalized and had less action mobility, but for certain shots looked reflective and really great.”

More scans etc. here.

So these tweets are actually real.

I really like how she tries to defend herself by stating how much she loooveees Japanese culture

"You guys I did this with Japanese people it’s cool"

"I go to Japan like so much ok I know the culture"

"I know so many Japanese people and even the director was Japanese!"

God these bullshit statements alone just insinuates that hey Japanese people are working with me so I can’t be doing anything wrong or racist, otherwise they’d tell me!

Yeah because even if you’re an artist at the end of her career and desperately trying to save it, you’re still a well-known name and PoC don’t have many opportunities in this industry and will take any job that’s offered to them. This includes everyone who worked on this video. Why?

Because People of Color are easily replaced. They’re expendable.

Oh, you don’t want to work with her cause her entire music video is racist? Whatever. We’ll just find another director/choreographer/dancer.

That’s it. That’s literally it. That’s how it works. So we suck it up and work with these people cause the industry doesn’t value us enough and not working only harms us, not the artist.

I mean, spewing random Japanese words that have nothing to do with your song is just short of saying Ching Chong Long Ting Tong, but you know. She’s just admiring the culture.

Sure does remind me of this skit:

This is extremely racist and insulting. I’m an Asian American. I studied Japanese for two years. I’ve yet to begin to scratch the surface of Japanese culture and etiquette and I’m not even that confident or comfortable speaking or writing it because I don’t feel as if I know enough about it to say I can speak Japanese.

Singing random words in a language you don’t know is racist when you use it for the sake of a song that just appropriates a part of their culture so much.

Then you have your Japanese backup dancers. They all look the same, they’re silent, and “kawaii”.

Of course, to you dear Avril, this sure doesn’t perpetuate the stereotype of cute, obedient, and submissive Asian women girls right? They’re just too damn cute and fit your set!

God. You’re turning 30. I don’t care if you want to act childish or dress a certain way. But grow the fuck up and stop making arguments that defend your racist actions and try to justify them by name-dropping everything Japanese.

You’re not Japanese. You don’t know Japanese. You don’t know Japanese culture. Your song doesn’t “honor” or “flatter” Japanese people or Japanese culture. It perpetuates the stereotype the West already holds and you try to pass it off as being cute and creative and appreciative and dedicate it to your Japanese fans.

No. Fuck you.

DUDE, why are you shitting yourself over this? So what she throws in a few Japanese words? Isn’t that the same as what Shakira does in her songs? African, Spanish etc. - c’mon.

white girls tossing in random Japanese words is not the same as a bilingual Columbian woman singing in Spanish

Only reblogging for the original post.

I really fucking hate some of the blind stupidity on this site these days. Yes, stand for what you think is right, but for the love of God don’t fight fire with fire.

Want equal rights for women? Don’t write off all men as hateful rapists who want to opress you.

Want…

Those BJD joint tights for humans make me cringe every time they pop up in the #bjd tag. Cute idea, but the printed “shading” being in dark grey makes everyone who wears them look like they have really dirty knees. If they were printed in dark peaches and browns to actually match peoples’ skin they could look nice, whoever’s making them needs to take some cues from how BJD owners blush their dolls. We’d know better than to shade pink or brown skin with dark grey pastels!

And I just remembered someone asked for this when I was liveblogging 171. I’m sorry I’m only now remembering!
I don’t recall who asked, but I think this is what you wanted? If I got it all wrong, let me know and I’ll get the correct thing ASAP.

Man with this reblogged on my blog right next to the gif of NaoUranus’ sword magic, I’m just struck by the most adorable scene of Haruka with her Space Sword giving Hotaru with her Silence Glaive a lesson in Weapon Twirling 101.
#weapon twirling 101 with haruka tenoh #this is the cutest image help #the glaive is like twice hotaru’s height anyway #you know she needed to practice this #and practice she did #to look this badass #because this is a really excellent scene #like damn hotaru

I think I had something about the Outers all practicing their twirling. If I find it in a sec, I’ll reblog. But basically YES, Hotaru and Haruka in the backyard practicing their twirling is the greatest image. Sometimes Setsuna joins in, but usually only when Haruka gets too antsy and insistent because that they need to all finalize their entrances. She nails it in one run-through and gets back inside before her tea is cold.
